3rd Annual Compassion Run 3/29/08 Pt. 4

Part 4 of the Compassion Run blog starts off outside of Thornberry on one of the 30 mph curves. We all know about gravel hazards but even though we try our best to avoid them, every now & then we get bit. Doug, one of the CMA riders, got bit when he slowed down on one of the 90 degree left turns and there was gravel out on the road..He went down and the pic is the trail his Harley made on its left side going down the embankment..He was pretty much ok except for his right wrist was hurting. He was checked & nothing appeared broken..His bike suffered damaged turn signals, left side cover broken off, and I think his bars were bent a little..One of the guys straightened them & Doug rode the rest of the way in...Photo also shows his bike at the bottom of the embankment & him being looked over by concerned brothers.. Remember, if you want to see the picture bigger, just click on the pic.

We stopped out on Hwy 148 between Henrietta & Petrolia to take some pics of one of the groups..There was a big hill of asphalt on the West side of the road & Russ took the camera and climbed up..He almost didn't make it as he kept sliding down on the shifting material. He said it was like climbing on volcanic ash...He made it though & the next couple of pics are the results of his labors..

Here is a Northbound group...Sounded good & looked good!

Here is Ronnie on his trike..The man was having a great time...

Here is another group approaching.. Russ & I joined this group & this is the group Doug was in...He went down on the gravel after Hwy 148 turned into Hwy 810.

Here we are at Stop 2 at the Snappy Stop in Burkburnett. Pictured are Mike, in the levi vest & Russ with the refreshing cold drink talking with other riders..

Brenda & Leland at Stop 2 in Burkburnett..Brenda says Leland is gonna teach her how to ride a bike...

More riders at Stop 2 in Burkburnett.

We left Burkburnett & shortly arrived at Stop 3, the Red River Harley Davidson Dealership in Wichita Falls, Texas..Here is the ticket table out front..

Some of the bikes that stopped with us at RRHD Stop 3...

Got $22,000? That is the sticker price on this great looking bike..I know not to ask my wife Janice for some funds...When she got done rolling around on the floor laughing, she would just walk out of the room..No answer & no money...

Back at Evangel Temple following the ride, for fun, food & games...Here is Charles making some announcements...

The band...I did not get their name but they were good...Liked that rock they were playing...

Pics of folks chowing down on some good brisket sandwiches...Mike is one heck of a cook..He told me he has been BBQ'ing since the age of 17..I was too polite to ask him his age..Besides, he is a lot bigger than me & a lot younger & I didn't want to bleed in front of everyone!!!! good job Mike!!

This is Sherri & Joe..Been on a few rides with them & they are good people..Plus Joe & I used to work together what seems like many eons ago...

Me & Ronnie..Ronnie has that trike & is a great guy..He also is a good cook...I am gonna visit his kitchen one of these Sunday's and break bread with him...

Jim & Pattie just prior to the Slow Race competition...He is the President of the Blue Knights Texas XX. He is a master motorcycle mechanic too...

The representatives of the WFPD Motorcycle Division that put on a demonstration of skill at the Compassion Run Saturday Rally..These guys & the rest of the Divison are feared by Stateside Police M/C Divisions at the annual Police Motorcycle Rodeos because our guys take first through third place in almost everything that they do..We are proud of them & I am proud that I was in the unit for 3 1/2 years in the 1980's. Left to right: Sgt. Mike Yonts, Officers Dwayne Powell & Mark Wise.

Going through the paces in the course...

Putting on the demonstration..They took First place when we rode the KZ1000's back in my day & these guys were on KZ1000's when they started..Switched to Harleys & that couldn't stop them..They are dangerous competition...

Officer Powell lines up Sgt. Yonts, to his left & Officer Wise to his right for a Slow Race..Mark smoked the sarge & I am sure Mike is gonna catch some flak Monday..Oh yeah, the division is heading out to Las Vegas Nevada this week for the Nationwide Police Rodeo...Go get 'em guys!!!!

Now its time for the club Slow Race Competition.. I believe this is the B.A.C.A group versus The Boozefighters..

B.A.C.A rider against Boozefighter rider in the Slow Race..

Niki taking her turn at the Slow Race..She did quite well & only messed up when folks starting yelling at her & she started laughing...She had a good time during that competition...

Robbie starting forward to line up for her turn at the Slow Race..

Bill took this pic of Slow Race Competition between The Boozefighters & B.A.C.A..
This will conclude Pt 4..............John
