Puttin' Around The Town 9-12-08

Today, Friday, 9-12-08, I didn't have much planned except to work on the computer and goof off around the house. Hurricane Ike, after it makes landfall in South Texas, is supposed to track up this way & Janice hinted at the yard needing mowing before the torrential rains hit. I was contemplating going out and cutting the grass when David called. He was basically getting cabin fever and wanted to get out of the house & go for a ride on the bikes. So, I put my contemplating on the side, climbed on Ms Clone & rode over to David's. Scroll down & check out today's ride about town and REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURE BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE..

Here is Ms. Clone & David's Goldwing in the parking lot of David's apartment.

We left the apartment, went to the bank and then on to the Pioneer Restaurant on Maplewood for lunch. Here is Alan, head guy what be in charge at Pioneer..The waitresses drive him nuts..

While at the restaurant, David's brother called him & he had driven down from Waurika Okla, to Eddie Hills Fun Cycles on Scott St. in downtown Wichita Falls Tx and wanted us to meet him there. So, we drove to meet him. Here are Ms Clone, David's Goldwing, his brother Jim's Nomad, a scooter and Eddie Hills Aerial Atom parked out front.

Here is David, looking for a screw that was dropped near his brother's Nomad after taking the side cover off. Never did find it..

Here is Jim & David. Jim was trying to get some paint schemes for his bike matched up.

David wandered over to the 09 Goldwing's on the showroom floor, so.....Here's David

David wandering about inside Eddie Hills Fun Cycles.

Eddie Hill was in the store today & I took a picture of David & Eddie Hill. Eddie is a world record holder with the NHRA and drag boats . Check out the following links:

David, Eddie Hill, & me. This is the 2nd photo op I have had with Eddie this week. If we don't quit meeting this way, people are gonna talk...I have known Eddie since I came back from Southeast Asia in 1975 and he is a GREAT guy with a tremendous personality. He is one of those people that when you meet them, you instantly like them. Here is a link to the business: http://www.eddiehillsfuncycles.com/

The "Crew" at Eddie Hills: Lindsay (from the store on Southwest Parkway & Mark's sister), Mark, Roger, Russ & Tosca (Roger's wife). Part of the one big happy team that works at Eddie Hills.

Here's a pic of Eddie Hill's personal bike.

Eddie's bike inside the dealership.

Eddie's Bike inside the dealership. I love this bike.

A final view of Eddie Hill's bike.

Some bikes on the showroom floor.

Some bigger bikes on the showroom floor

This is Richard. He assembles the new bikes when the come into Eddie Hills. He is the one who put Ms Clone together..

Here is Mark, all smiles, as he talks with a customer. The guy leaning on the counter in the white T-shirt also works at Eddie Hills. I will get his name & edit this post.

This is the left rear of Eddie's Ariel Atom. What is an Ariel Atom, you ask ?...

This is an Ariel Atom. Eddie told me that they only have made like 110 of them. Jay Leno has the first one. Eddie has the 72nd. See this link for more info & tech stuff on the Atom. Eddie sure has some neat toys... http://www.arielatom.com/

The rear & engine of the Atom. Note the little slicks...Pretty kewl to say the least.

A side view of Eddie Hill's Ariel Atom

A front view of Eddie's Ariel Atom. It looks like one of those Lotus racing cars from the front. Eddie says they are a blast on the track.

The Ariel Atom's interior. Yes, it does have a steering wheel but it is detachable & Eddie had it inside the shop.

Last shot of the day is of the LAZY DOG SALOON, just down the street from Eddie Hills Funcycles. The Lazy Dog Saloon is popular with the Biker crowd here in Wichita Falls, Texas.
This will conclude this post. I had fun running around town today with David & talking with Eddie Hill. If any of you are riding thru the Wichita Falls area on a trip or club ride, stop down at Eddie Hills and chat with him if he's there. Even though its a Honda, Kawasaki & Yamaha dealership, Harley riders are always welcome & quite a few Harley riders buy their accessories from Eddie. Stop in & say hi.
Scroll down for more rides, events & posts and don't forget to click on the "older posts" link at the bottom of EACH page for more rides & posts back to January 08. Until next ride (Tomorrow, the Chris Brumley Memorial Run- see 7-12-08 post) and post, be careful, ride safe & keep the rubber on the road....JOHN
