Crimestoppers Annual Fun Run Saturday 5-17-08 Pt. 1

On Saturday, 5-17-08, Crimestoppers of Wichita Falls Texas had its Annual Fun Run. Sign in and departure point was at Eddie Hills Fun Cycles, downtown Wichita Falls with first bike out at 0900 hrs. The run was 92 miles. Pictured above, just prior to leaving my house at 0730 hrs are: Amy (my youngest daughter) & her fiancee' Dustin and Amanda (my oldest daughter) who was riding with me. My wife Janice had to work, so she missed this ride. REMEMBER: if you want to see it bigger, click on the picture.

Janice did venture out of the house all bleary eyed & bushy tailed to take this pic of Amy, Dustin, Amanda & me. She then shuffled back into the house and went back to sleep.

We left my house & went and picked up my partner from along time ago, Rodney..Here we are at Rodney's house. Rodney's wife Vicki was meeting her boss, Cindy, who was riding also, and they would meet us at Eddie Hills. After this pic was taken, we headed out. Pictured are me, Rod & Dustin.

Pictured are the bikes on N. Scott in the vicinity of Eddie Hills.

Pic of some of the bikes in front of Eddie Hills. Registration & package pick up as well as breakfast was just inside the doors.

Bikes on the side of Eddie Hills. I talked to Donna from Crimestoppers, when the ride was complete, and a fast headcount showed they had 173 folks registered. That was the fast headcount. The final number was thought to be more.

A picture of Amy with local radio personality, Brad Austin. She was pretty tickled to finally meet him. She listens to him everyday.

Rodney's wife & her boss catch up with us. Here is Cindy, Rodney & Vicki. Rod & I have been friends since 1977.

Pictured prior to heading out are: Debbie, Carl, Sissy & Ken. Ken is another Vietnam Vet (helicopter pilot) & is the city Doc..Good guy, I might add.

This is Kyle & Amy. Kyle is another friend & former co-worker. Amy is his wife & has her own Harley which will be seen shortly

Raymond & Marilyn. Been friends with them for years & they are both retired now & ride all over the country..

This is Trish & Van.. Van is another friend & former co-worker and Trish, his wife, is a riot..Check out her helmet with the pink ponytail's attached. I saw her in that while we were riding down the road & I almost lost control of my bike I was laughing so hard

Here is Trish modeling the aforementioned helmet at Stop 1, the Red River Harley Davidson Dealership

Tucson Arizona Run 4-26/27-08 Day 16/17 Pt. I

On Saturday 4-26-08, we planned a run to Mt. Lemmon, a popular ski lodge at an elevation of around 9,000 ft. This is a pic of Dale in front of Bill's house as we got ready to depart...REMEMBER: if ya want to see it bigger, click on the picture..

I thought these skull bolts on Dale's Harley were cool

Here is Dale & Bill out front as we head to Mt. Lemmon

Dale & Bill as we head up the mountain

Me at the 4,000 ft point

Me at the 7,000 ft mark

Me & the bikes on the way up

Me looking ahead as we get ready to leave a pull off on the way up

Bill & Dale on an overlook on the way up Mt. Lemmon

Some lunatic trying to steal Miss Clone as Bill attempts to stop the insanity. All he needed to do was ask me & I would've swapped Miss Clone for his Harley Fatboy..It would've broken my heart but I believe we could have reached an agreement..

Learning from Bill, I, too, am concerned with the plants & cactus in the desert. Here I do my part to give them much needed moisture..

Some Saguaro Cacti on the way up

Looking out over some of the mountains

Another Saguaro cactus, pronounced as"sue-war-oh" not "cigaro" like I thought..Did Bill & Dale give me a time over that one!!!

A view of greater Tucson from the mountains

This is the road we came up. This was taken at, I believe, 7,000 ft elevation..we still had 2,000 ft up to go.
This will conclude the final segment of the Tucson Arizona Run 2008. A great time, at some great places, with even greater friends..Could not have been better. Thanks guys for the good time and thank you Jackie for putting up with me for two weeks.....Cya next year for the Tucson Arizona Run 2009..............John
