On Sunday, 8 Jun 08, the PGR (Patriot Guard Riders) held a Meet & Greet in the city park in Seymour Texas. Seymour Texas is about 50 miles West of Wichita Falls Texas. Our staging point was set at the Shell Station at the Kamay Y, about 2 miles West of Wichita Falls. We were to be there at 12:15 p.m. with KSU (kick stands up) at 12:30 p.m. For those of you who wish to know more about the Patriot Guard Riders and what we do & stand for, click on this link: http://www.patriotguard.org/ Now, scroll on down and enjoy today's event.. Continue scrolling and enjoy other events all the way back to Jan 08. REMEMBER: if you want to see the picture bigger, simply click on the picture....

Yesterday, I went by & got Vicki & Rodney for the run in Archer City. Today they came by my house & got me..Janice ventured out in the heat to take this photo of Me, Vicki & Rodney. She then went back in..Janice did not go with us today because she does not handle hot weather very well.....

We got to the Shell station right at 12:15 hrs.. There were already folks waiting there..Above is a shot of some of the riders

Here is another view of the riders waiting for 12:30 p.m. There was another PGR mission in progress at the same time as this and Cecil, Ted, Joe & Sherri, Mike & Barbara went from Wichita Falls to Bowie Texas, from Bowie Texas to Ft. Sill Oklahoma & from Ft. Sill to Seymour Texas. They were escorting an aviation unit out of Dallas that got activated & was being sent to Iraq..They did make it to Seymour before the meeting broke up.. That was a full days worth of riding for them and they are to be commended..Well Done!!!

Departure time came at 12:30 p.m. and off we went, westbound on Texas Hwy 82 to Seymour Texas. Here is a view out my windshield

Here is the speedometer showing 70 mph on Texas Hwy 82

A view over the windshield. That is John and his Harley on the left and Charles & Gloria on the right on their Harley..

Another view through the windshield..See, we did do the speed limit....

A view behind..We had a trike bringing up the rear..

Another view of the Westbound bikes

The last view of the Westbound bikes, promise...Riding where I was in the pack, was great..The pipes on the Harley's in front of me sounded great!!

When we got to Seymour Texas, we stopped to eat before going to the park. We stopped at the Rock Inn Cafe, which is noted for its chicken fried steak..Here are the bikes in the parking lot.

Here is Vicki & Rodney inside the Rock Inn Cafe..

Pattie showing off her coconut creme pie & Lance showing off his blueberry pie..Hmmmm.. wonder if Jim got taken any coconut creme pie this time?

Terry makes his play for the pie as Pattie takes a bite..She was pretty quick and he almost had nubs for fingers...But he withdrew slightly faster than Pattie struck...

Our bikes in the parking lot of the Rock Inn Cafe

John with his Harley Dyna Super Glide that he has had for one month. About 2 minutes after this picture was taken, he went down getting on the road from the parking lot by getting into some gravel..He told me the only thing that was injured was his pride. I told him that it has happened to the majority of us at one time or other..He had to make a minor adjustment to his shifter and away we went..John is an Iraq War Vet and thankfully he wasn't injured here after all the crap he went through overseas. I look forward to riding with him again...

We finally got to the park in Seymour Texas. Here is a view of the pavilion and some of the bikes there..That is Terry walking back to his bike. The 2 little girls behind him are his nieces.

Another view of the pavilion and bikes

Russ made it to the park too. Now, he just had shoulder surgery and can't ride his Harley for a few more days but that didn't stop him. He drove his car.. It's this kind of dedication that keeps a club going. John took this pic of Me & Russ at the pavilion.

Some more bikes on the other side of the pavilion

Our group of bikes

Russ at the park in Seymour Texas

Mike's bike. He had just come in with Cecil, Barbara (his wife) & Ted

Barbara (Mike's Wife) & her bike & passenger, Bear. Bear had the misfortune of having his Harley hat & bandana getting blown off his head somewhere between Lawton Oklahoma & Seymour Texas...Now he's gonna have a bad hair day!!! Help him Barbara!!

Doug (orange shirt & full beard) talks with some PGR members

Doug's new Harley... Doug crashed & burned in Sturgis last year but recovered in time to order & receive his new Harley...It's a beauty!!

Cecil addresses the crowd. He told what had occurred today during the escort to Ft. Sill

Here is Cecil, tired but all grins...

Part of the crowd of PGR members. Vicki is sitting down, in the red shirt, far right center

The meet & greet over, some members stay and talk. The items on the tailgate of the truck were free bottles of water, iced down and free cold drinks also iced down...Trust me, in the heat, it was all good.. We left a short time later & 6 of us rode back together. Rodney led, with Pattie, Lance, Vicki, Me & Russ bringing up the rear. We made it home with no incidents. I had a good time today with good friends on a good ride. I look forward to the next ride. Until the next ride and post, ya'll ride safe and keep the rubber on the road...................John

John, great pictures, but even though I'm on the internet and famous and all, I'm gonna have to get my pride tuned up a little after the BIG WIPE OUT.....But at least it wasn't a crash & burn. Even if the pavement was HOT! Whats cool about the whole day was all the good people I got to meet!
