A Biker Brother's Funeral 7-12-08

On Wednesday, 7-9-08, a brother biker was involved in a motorcycle accident in Quanah Texas, and was killed. Today, Saturday, 7-12-08, Chris Brumley, was laid to rest in Wichita Falls Texas. His wife, Jennifer, requested a biker escort to be included in the funeral because she felt Chris would of liked that. So, at 9:15 a.m., bikers from all over began arriving at Colonial Baptist Church for the service. We then escorted Chris to his final resting place at Crestview Memorial Cemetery, also here in Wichita Falls. Our thoughts & prayers are with Jennifer, his 10 month old son, Chase, & the rest of his family. Chris's obituary may be viewed at this link: http://www.timesrecordnews.com/news/2008/jul/11/chris-brumley/. Out of respect for Chris & his family, I did not take any pictures inside the church. Scroll down and view Chris's funeral, from the church to the cemetery. REMEMBER: IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PICTURES BIGGER, JUST CLICK ON THE PICTURE..

At approximately 0915 hr, bikers began arriving at the Colonial Baptist Church.

As 1000 hrs approaches, a large number of bikers are gathered.

This is Big Mike & Railroad (from the local Chapter of Boozefighters M/C). There were representatives from the H.O.G. Chapter, Boozefighters, B.A.C.A., C.M.A., Blue Knights Texas XX, and bikers that ride solo. A good turn out assembled for our fallen brother..

This is Bruce in the parking lot, a H.O.G. member as well as Blue Knight.

Bikers wait in the shade for the services to begin.. The first 6 rows in the church (right side) were reserved for the assembled bikers.

This is Jerry & Janis in amongst the bikes...Jerry is a C.M.A. member and Janis is a H.O.G. chapter member.

Jim & Terry in the church parking lot. Both are H.O.G members and Jim is a Blue Knight.

Rodney in the parking lot..Like Jim, he is a member of H.O.G & the Blue Knights.

This is Sissy, Diane (Terry's wife) & Terry. All three are H.O.G Chapter members..Chris was also a new member of the H.O.G Chapter.

This is Ted & Lamont talking to others in the lot. Ted is a H.O.G member & Lamont is a Buffalo Soldier M/C member.

This is Jo & David, members of the local B.A.C.A. Chapter

The line up of motorcycles continue in the parking lot..

The line up is coming together..

The line up of bikes complete, we wait patiently for the escort to begin..

Everyone in place. There were over 34 motorcycles present..

The long line of bikes & bikers await the fire the bikes up signal from Russ

Some of the riders see the folks approaching the lead cars. The line up was: funeral personnel car, vehicle with the pallbearers, all the bikes, Hearse, family cars & then all the people that attended the funeral that were to ride in the procession.

As we start out southbound on Maplewood to Southwest Parkway, this is the view to the rear of Russ's & my bike.

This is another view of the escort. We were going slow & taking the pictures weren't as easy as they usually are at faster speeds, because we were fairly close to the lead cars & I had to be extremely careful..

Russ's bike in front of me and the bikes behind as seen in the mirror

We turned Eastbound on Southwest Parkway and split the right & center lanes as seen here in the view to the rear..

Another view to the rear. That is Sissy on the yellow bike and Janis next to her, on her right

This is the last view of the procession behind us that was taken on Southwest Parkway..

When we got to the cemetery, Russ blocked the Northbound traffic on Tx Hwy 79 so all the procession could enter the cemetery safely. Sissy then pulled up & took Russ's slot as we went into the cemetery. Above is a picture of the parked bikes as we walked to the grave site.

Following the burial, some of us went to the Pioneer Restaurant on Maplewood for lunch. I was hot, as it was over 100 degrees out, and I ordered a pitcher of tea and a straw. They actually gave it to me & I drank every drop

.

Here is Rodney & Rianne at Pioneer..Rianne is Vicki & Rodney's daughter

Here is Vicki & Sissy, also with us at Pioneer.

The last picture taken before we went our separate ways, was taken in the parking lot of Pioneer Restaurant. Left to right: Janis, Sissy, Vicki, Rodney & Rianne.

This will conclude this post. Again, our sympathy's go out to the family & friends of Chris.
