Rain & Harley's & Dinner 8-19-08

Today, Tuesday, 8-19-08, started off kinda slow. First of all, it has been raining cats & dogs since 2 a.m. and had become what we call "a real turd floater". Wichita Falls was flooding, the outlying area's were flooding, street's were closed, just a crappy day. So, I got on the playstation and played Sniper Elite and killed until my cup ranneth over and then I came into the computer room & started working on the blog. Then Russ called and wanted to know if I wanted to run to Red River Harley Davidson with him. (He wanted to take a break from tearing out his bathrooms..he is remodeling both of them). I looked outside and it was still raining and I asked him if he was nuts or what..It did not dawn on me that we would be in his truck and not on bikes. So he came and got me and we headed out. We were going to try and get some pictures of some of the flooded areas, but they would not let us past the barricades. Several of the people we ride with ie: Mike, Robbie, Jim & Pattie, houses got flooded. But we did get a picture of the rising Wichita River. Scroll down and see how the day progressed and REMEMBER: if you want to see it bigger, just click on the picture.

This is the Wichita River looking to the West. The river is usually no more than 2 feet deep. Here is is just a couple feet below the bottom of the bridge, which would make it about 10-12 feet deep

The Wichita River looking back to the East.

We left the soon to be flooded area and went to the Harley shop. They had this beautiful 2009 red Ultra Classic on the floor. It had a sold sign on the seat...

Another view of the 2009 Ultra Classic..

We looked at the sold sign...This was sold to Pattie!!!

Next we went in to talk to Greg..Here is Russ at the door to Greg's office. Greg runs Harley's Rider's Edge Program at Red River Harley Davidson

And here is Greg..Just got back from Hobbs N.M. and is fixin' to head out Monday for the 105th Anniversary Bash in Milwaukee Wisconsin at Harley Davidson Headquarters.

Greg at his desk, hard at work..

We got to go back in the back & see some of the new bikes. These are some of the used Harley's for sale

Here are three of the brand new 2009 models

Check out the skull & Crossbones on the Crossbone model

We left the Harley shop & Russ dropped me off at Logan's Roadhouse for the weekly Tuesday night gathering. Here are Steve, Jeff & Lance..

This is Jim, Sissy & Debbie

Sissy, Debbie (giving her order) and Linda

The Table: Linda, Debbie, Sissy & Jim. Lance, Jeff & Steve. They got Lance's order screwed up twice and he never did get anything to eat. They did bring him out something when we were getting ready to leave and he refused it. He was not happy and I don't blame him..

Last picture of the day is Sissy talking to Debbie & Linda.

This will conclude this post. A very interesting day to say the least. We certainly hope no more flooding occurs and that the damage done to our friends property is at minimum. But we stand ready to help, if needed.

Scroll down for more rides, events & posts and don't forget to click on the "older posts" link at the bottom of EACH page for more posts back to January 08. Until next ride/post, be careful out there, stay dry, ride safe & keep the rubber on the road....JOHN
