Officer Reginald Lewis 9-14-08

Sunday 9-14-08, I received this from my good friend Russ about a new born baby daughter (Nylah) that Reginald Lewis & his wife (Phylesha) just had. The local Chapter of Blue Knights Texas XX are trying to get some donations to help ease the Lewis's financial burden that builds up quite rapidly when this happens.

In reference to John’s letter below.

I would like to have a check available to give to the Lewis family on Saturday, Sept 20th at Strokers after our ride. I think this will be a great time to make the presentation. Mike said that he could make arrangements for the family or a representative meet us there instead of all of us going to the hospital. I think it may be even a greater opportunity to get a little more in donations when other bikers see what we are doing and may want to help.

So please send your donations in to Greg or John as soon as possible so we can make this happen. We may even want to start thinking about one of our own, Tony and Jamie, who need our prayers now and may need further assistance later.

See you on Saturday at 7:45am at the Shell Station at Windthorst Rd. and US 287. Those interested in a side trip to Sam Moon’s for the girls, please think about it and let me or John know. My daughter is meeting us there and will have a small car, or we can have some follow her and Linda there. I DO NOT plan to go myself, just not my thing.

To All Members,

Today, Thursday 9-11-08, I received an e-mail pertaining to Officer Reginald Lewis, an officer with the WFPD. Officer Lewis and his wife just had a baby and the baby was three months premature. The baby is in the hospital in Dallas Texas and will be there at least until the end of November. Officer Lewis's wife is staying in Dallas to be with the baby and Officer Lewis is back here in Wichita Falls working and he drives back & forth to Dallas. This is very expensive. The WFPD is asking for donations to help out with the medical & travel expenses.

We would also like for EVERY Blue Knight in the local Chapter to make a donation to the Lewis family. The donations can be given to Greg, our Chapter secretary/treasurer or given to me & I will give them to Greg. Greg may be reached at Red River Harley Davidson: US 287/City View Dr Wichita Falls Tx at 1-866-441-7743(Riders Edge Office) . I may be reached at my cell: (940) 782-5346. If need be, I will ride to your location to get donations (within 60 miles) , if you wish. Checks/Money orders need to be made out to Blue Knights Tx XX with reference to Officer Lewis in the for/memo portion of the check/money order.

When we get all the donations in, we will have a check drawn up and we will have a Chapter ride to Dallas to the hospital and present the check to Officer Lewis & his wife. My son, Matt, is a WFPD officer and is on the power shift with Officer Lewis and currently getting me the correct spelling of his wife & baby daughter's name as well as the hospital information that they are at in Dallas. 9-14-08: wife name; Phylesha baby's name (daughter): Nylah.

When my daughter Amy had her brain surgery in Dallas back in 2001, the WFPD and other departments gave donations and believe me, it sure relieved some of the financial burden for us, because just like Officer Lewis is doing now, I had to drive back & forth to Dallas to see Amy and my wife Janice, who also stayed there, like Officer Lewis's wife is now. We will be eternally thankful to the WFPD & all who donated to us. We couldn't have made it without them. Some of the Blue Knights now, were officers & co-workers with me then and they know how much we needed the help.

So, I ask each and every member of the Blue Knights Tx XX and all that are in the process of wanting to join or renew their memberships, to donate to this cause. We took care of our own on the streets and we should continue to take care of our own now. Let's make this the biggest Blue Knights Tx XX success ever and help Officer Lewis & his wife out. This is one endeavor that we all can look upon and be proud of.

Ride Safe,

HELPING OTHERS IN THE TIME OF NEED, HELPS NOT ONLY THE PERSON/PERSON'S RECEIVING THE HELP BUT ALSO ADDS CREDIBILITY TO THE CHAPTER AND PROMOTES GOOD WILL FROM THE NON-RIDING FOLKS WITH THOSE OF US THAT DO RIDE. PLUS ON THE PERSONAL LEVEL AFTER BEING HELPED BY THE WFPD AND OTHERS IN THE TIME OF OUR NEED, IF FEELS GOOD TO BE ABLE TO HELP OTHERS.........UNTIL NEXT RIDE AND POST, BE CAREFUL OUT THERE, RIDE SAFE, AND KEEP THE RUBBER ON THE ROAD............JOHN "SNAPSHOT"
